Mamata Banerjee takes out candle march demanding justice for Baruipur victim
Former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to the streets in Kalighat area to lead a prominent candlelight protest following the recent controversial incident in Baruipur. Holding a candle, the leader joined a massive procession to express solidarity and raise her voice against the occurrence. The public demonstration follows a high-voltage standoff outside her residence, signaling an escalation in the regional political climate.
The street protest comes a day after the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leadership in Kalighat alleged that administrative authorities actively blocked Mamata Banerjee from personally visiting Baruipur on Sunday evening. According to party sources, the former Chief Minister was eager to travel to the affected area to meet local stakeholders but was restricted due to sudden heavy police deployment and surveillance around her house.
To bypass the restriction and register the party's presence, a high-level Trinamool Congress delegation visited Baruipur on Monday. Senior TMC leaders Dola Sen, Pratima Mandal, and Biman Banerjee traveled to the site as official party representatives to evaluate the local situation and interact with the public. Meanwhile, the party continues to condemn the state administration's attempts to restrict their top leadership's movement.
